Hi Marlo, welcome to Ozarks Forem. I'm NE of Ft. Smith. 30 mi north of Clarksville. probably not far away. You can have a lot of fun with 5 acres. Do you like veggies,flowers,herbs, bushes,trees or all of the above? :)
I don't think there's a better hobby or lifestyle even if you're limited to pots on a window sill.

I love flowers, anything with flowers (bushes, trees, bulbs). I have hard red clay and tons of rocks, so this has been a slow process. I'm still working on getting grass to grow. I've been getting startings(lilacs,crepe myrtle,hydrangas)from my grandma and people at work. I've planted hundreds of bulbs, some my grandma got from her grandma. I think its pretty cool. I've been waiting all winter for spring so I can get started again. I'm also excited about talking to people on this forum(close to home).

Marlo, you might switch over to exchanges at top of forem where it says discussion and exchanges for Kayes spring swap. She's nearby and you could maybe find something you like even if you did'nt have anything to trade. It'll also be fun and you can meet the Ozark neighbors.:)
