Nurseries

Has anyone had dealings with Boston Mountain Nurseries located over near Fayetteville? Found them online while looking for a source for gooseberry bush starts. Price is good (excellent compared to mailorder catalogs I've gotten recently), and I was just curious if anyone else has had experience with them.

Thanks william! I checked them out, and they are indeed the same family. I placed my order today - EXTREMELY nice and very helpful, and I'm looking forward to some thornless blackberries, some blueberry starts to experiment with, and a buttload of gooesberries - can you ever have too many gooeseberry pies? My family says no. :)

Pense is who I am going with, as well. Their prices are great, and it is close enough for a drive down there to pick up plants.

Some of those nurseries along Highway 71 are better than others. Check out this link:

People who have bought from mail-order nurseries across the country rate their plants and the whole experience.

I've heard good things about Boston Nursery.

Thanks Paul...that's a good link. I went ahead and ordered from Boston. Even though Pense are a little better on prices, the guy at Boston was extremely nice and helpful, and really gave some good advice on growing blueberry bushes in the Ozarks. I'll post again when I get my order.

Just wanted to let you all know that I recieved my order from Boston Mountain Nurseries - 25 gooseberries, 5 thornless blackberries, 5 wyeberries, and 5 blueberries. The folks there were extremely nice and helpful, prompt in answering inquiries, and friendly. My shipment was also prompt, and I was VERY happy with the bushes - especially the gooseberries - they were huge! They might have been a little expensive on shipping, but with the prices of bushes it's still cheaper than the big commercial nurseries. Plus, you know anything they grow can grow just fine in the huge rock bed we call the Ozarks. There are other nurseries located in the same area, looks to be mostly run by the same family. Some differ on prices of both bushes and shipping. Anyway, it's a bit refreshing to be treated fairly and get a product that actually meets expectations for once!
