At our local WM, the sign on the greenhouse read something like "Due to high winds, the greenhouse is closed for your safety." (I hate it when people try to protect me from myself!) Ron Hearst (KY3) said people reported gusts over 50, but it felt more like almost 60 when I went to pick the kids up from school, like they were gonna get blown out of my hands! I didn't try to garden (just shop!) b/c I knew that i would just get a LOT of dirt in my eyes, which are somewhat sensitive. :(

That was like an all day storm without the rain wasn't it! Sorry to hear about your perennials Delana. Hope you still have some left. I have seeds sowed in containers on my patio and lost several lids but thankfully the containers were still there. I didn't try to garden either Leesa. The only part of the forecast I heard was the temperature so I was expecting a nice day. Kinda disappointing. Today is wonderful though. I've been outside a little. If only the laundry fairy would show up, I could spend more time out there. : )

I thought my little hoophouse made it, but when I checked this morning, I found several places where the covering was ripped loose. Also found the heater unplugged!!! DH swares he didn't do it....Thankfully it didn't get too cold. I just went out and restapled the sheeting. Maybe this poor thing will get me through one more season.

I have lots of limbs in the yard too, but didn't get to pick them up. We spent the morning renailing several sheets of metal roofing on some outbuildings.....The Ozarks are great!!

GD-I'm so sorry that you are having problems too! I am glad it didn't get down low temps last night for your plants too. Thank goodness I don't have to repair roofs, though you just reminded me to give mine a second look, since I just did a quick once over after chasing down the greenhouse peices. I think we got hit so hard because we sit on a hill of sorts, at least one of the higher altitude areas for around here anyway. Behind my house is flat fields for a long way, so I think that probably did us in yesterday. Oh well, last year we had to cut up 2 trees that fell across our driveway, on a Sunday morning, just so we could get out of the driveway to go to church.
And just think....Spring storms are just now building up for the really "good ones" to come......

I did have one cover come loose at the corner of a coldframe and sounded like a whip cracking while the wind whistled up the hollar! We patched as best we could this A.M. and hope it will provide enough protection for the next couple of weeks. Looks like the perennials will harden off a little early this year! We are surrounded by timber so we don't usually have much trouble with wind! I'm just hoping for some rain it is getting fairly dry here in Highlandville!

At least my daffs and saucer magnolia didn't get blown away, since they only bloomed the day before all that wind.

Sorry,ya'll are having trouble with the wind. Not as bad here but enough to blow the container of herbs off the porch rail of my shop and it made our new colt so nervous she near 'bout wore a hole to china along the stall wall and corral to shimmy out under.She was so nervous,she wouldn't eat and would give me that "you stink" grin(upper lip curled up) when I tried to hand feed her.
