Any organic matter is good for a lawn anytime. Some people here have only used coffee grounds and report good results.

I've used UCG as the only fertilizer/amendment on my lawn for the past few years. I've had good results with them. I just fling the grounds on the lawn until I run out, then start where I left off when I get more. Just don't put them down more than about 1/2 inch thick or they can repel water and smother the lawn. I also don't bother breaking up the hockey pucks since they'll fall apart over time.
