3 fully open, the 4th one opening. Our fall show is starting tomorrow, perfect timing.

At the bottom of the 4th spike you can see the flaring which precedes opening.

It blooms out of the new growth but not in the usual fashion. The new growths and the spikes emerged almost at the same time, the spikes growing rapidly straight up until they stood tall at almost 1 foot. Then they keeled over and assumed the pendant position. The leaves developed very slowly. In full bloom, the new leaves are quite small. I assume that after the flowers fade, the new leaves will take off.

Not that many species lovers at that show. A big floofy Catt or a perfect Phaelie with numerous inflos will be the grand champion. I'll no doubt get a big floofy ribbon for my effort. Whoopee!

I am going with best in show also. You dont have to be a species lover to appreciate this one.

Best of show went to a Paph rothschildianum with 4 perfect flowers, no argument. The Coelogyne won best of section, no argument there either. The surprise was my Ctna Renate S&W which won best of section for Cattleya, I did not expect that.
