Cattleya skinneri (var caerulea NOT)
I get a lot of feedback questioning my IDs and a lot of the time I just throw up my hands. One of the biggest problems of buying orchids in Brazil is bad ID. Sadly some of this mis-ID is deliberate.A favorite trick of some unscrupulous growers is to ID a plant as a rare or unusual variety or clone in order to boost the price. I should have known better in this case as the plant was actually labeled as "Cattleya skinneri var. coerulea alba!". Well I thought I might get something interesting, but it turned out to just the type species.
