Oklahoma redbud in my front yard. I love the shiny leaves all summer.

I think the named varieties are a darker pink. My neighbor has a row planted in the zigs of their split rail fence amd they are also darker than mine. I have several seedling each year in the flower beds that I have to cut down.

My native redbuds are in full bloom. At least what of them is left from last year's ice storm. A lot of them lost limbs, but still bloom on what is left. I've been cutting down seedlings for years, but this year will save some to replace the old trees on the edge of the woods.

I've seen an Oklahoma Redbud and they are gorgeous! A much prettier color than native redbud I think.
I have Forest Pansy which has purplish leaves but the color of the flowers is about the same as native redbud. There is one called Appalachian Red I would like to see.

I had several seedlings that came up in a load of mulch one year, just native redbuds. I put four of them over in my fence row and one in my back yard and traded some away. I didn't have the heart to just toss them. They're common but I could never get tired of them.

christie, Lowes had Oklahoma last year. They also had a flowering crab Robinson for around $25, I was afraid of it because I didn't know if is the disease resistant. Now I find that it is. I may go back for one.

We spent the morning cutting down tree saplings from flowers beds and the yard. My goal is to get rid of all self-seeding trees! We cut out about 6 kolreuteria and two redbuds. I want a some smaller "good" trees. I still miss the River Birch and may get another clump. They don't like ice storms.
