Thanks for the info. I'll have to get my feeders washed and mix up some sugar water.

My neighbor feeds them and says they are here! She had a woodpecker at her feeder and shot at it and ruined one of her feeders-I felt really bad as I had run out of sunflower seed so the poor bird was just hungry!I need to get mine put out too! Did buy sunflower seed too!Posy Pet

My neighbors and i have been seeing several hummers the last two days here at 2000 ft. alt. zone 6 Johnson co.
My bluebirds are happily setteled in also. I have a pillated woodpecker that loves hummer water too. I have a special hanging dish i put some in for him. that crow sized woodpecker is my baby.

i;m hoping the other birds slow down in eating now, all winter, i've gone thru 200 pounds of sunflower seeds a week!--and still putting it out. i have 10 bluebird houses out too, and most of them have blue birds. when we sit on the back deck, the bluebirds are twittering and singing constantly.hate to hear of someone shooting at the birds, our golden eagles occupy a lot of our leisure time too.need i say i love my animals--and birds?

Hi all! We hung two feeders on April the eighth. We are ten miles south of Dixon. No hummers yet, but, we saw our first on the fourteenth last year. Russ.

The map shows sightings all the way up to KC and St. Louis but I haven't seen any yet at my feeders. Maybe I'm just not looking out the window at the right time. Or maybe I need to plant some early bloomers for them. Does anyone have any hummingbird favorites that are blooming right now?

I saw one today. It hit on a geranium that I had on the back deck.

My mother saw one today here. I put up the oriole feeder yesterday. Last summer hummingbirds would use it. This one tried, but didn't like it. I'll switch to a better feeder tomorrow. The perch on the oriol feeder isn't the right distance away from the food for hummingbirds.

Our first male ruby throat appeared yesterday in the evening. I put out 2 feeders on April 1 and we have a lot of flowers open much earlier than usual but they usually arrive about this time. We only use the best 1 feeders as they have no removable parts, only the jar and the reservoir. We normally put out 3 feeders during months of humming bird residencey, April thru October. EP
