BTW, Christie, I checked my B & B salvia and they are definitely coming through the mulch in about three spots. Mine have condiderably spread over the years and now cover a 3-foot or so area. I planted them right next to the paved drive so I think it acts as a heat sink for them.

I dropped by the Master Gardener Display Gardens in town yesterday to photograph the apple tree expalier before they leafed out....might try a modified version with my dward apple trees. Their bulbs were beautiful and the hyacinths smelled heavenly. I must plant some for next year...I love the blue ones.

They have planted some cole crops in the veggie garden, looked like purple cabbage and others.

Razorback - Right now our lowest low is 28 forecasted for the 18th of April on the AccuWeather link you posted. My 10 day forecast didn't show that but I've lived here long enough to know not to take a chance and to check the forecast often in the spring. Thanks for posting that link. I didn't have it.

Gld - I had four B&Bs last year, two species and one Argentine Skies. Not a bit of growth in sight but surely they wouldn't ALL die. I still have hope. I may try putting a B&B by my driveway next time. I grew a salvia darcyi from seed that's coming back and my little salvia greggi plants that I grew from seed are coming back. Those were so small, I really didn't have much hope for them in our zone.
