Both likely are not what you want. You want compost made from a blend of greens and browns and nothing from an animal. Mushroom compost has a chance of being total junk so I would stay away from that. You want something that smells like a forest (you'll know when you whiff it) which is a good smell. If it smells like sulfur or ammonia then that is definitely bad. The appearance will be a dark fibrous material that hopefully doesn't clump together too well and can't be mistaken for a bag of moist topsoil/potting soil.

The only thing that I could find locally was Soil King Leaf Soil, it is made from composted leaves by a company called Banfe. Does this sound like it would be ok to use for compost tea?

Would compost tea from soil dug in a forest be good for compost teas? I suspect they would have alot of fungus and little bacteria.

I am going to brew up my first batch from vermicompost this week. I have some leaf compost sitting around too, and perhaps I will mix some of that in.

So am I to assume that the composted mushroom soil will be of no use for compost tea??
