Warm to cool grower from Mexico and Central America. I have had it for a long time, this is the second time it bloomed. Very large plant for it's 'first bloom'. The spikes are close to 2 1/2' tall. I grow it warm and keep it moist all year long. It's supposed to be deciduous, I have not noticed that.
