fall fert application

I overseeded 5 weeks ago and the new seedling are coming in pretty good. Any recommendations for a fall fert. or am I done for the year?

Throw down some "Winterizer" fertilizer from Home Depot or Mennards after the topgrowth stops, around November 15. Bill Hill

Oopse, this is the Organic lawn forum. Make that final fertilizer Soybean meal and apply it next week. Bill Hill

Some recommend a fall application of CGM for weed/crabgrass prevention. Can I throw SBM and CGM together around Nov 15? And then another application of CGM late Feb/early March?

Ha. Letting your slip show Bill. ;)

I'm with Bill, Smitty. Apply some organic fertilizer like soybean meal, cottonseed meal, cornmeal now. Personally, I put down a final fall application of fertilizer after the first hard freeze with 1 pound of nitrogen per 1000 from urea for my cool season grasses. Some prefer to stay more organic.
