Invitation to Mr. Sun

First the snow then the rain. Please let's have some sun. I can't walk in the yard til we get a few nice days or I will sink in the muddy grass. At least I would like to get out and pick up the branches from our nasty ice storm. I did start some seeds a while back (Thunbergia) because someone told me they take a bit longer to germinate. I noticed just a tiny piece of green coming up and that has lifted my spirits.

i agree. as much as i like it when spring arrives, it's nice to have just a little bit of 'drying out' time. there's only so many hours in the day that i can spend wiping up muddy paw prints all over the house.

The Inq had an article recently on how this has been the coldest March in 20 years -- and with extra percipitation to boot. And this with the last 2 years running colder than usual. We seem to be in a cool wet weather pattern.

This is what I tell myself instead of bursting into tears. Sometimes it works.

I've had this whole week off (am starting a new job on Monday) and was hoping to enjoy some spring weather and gardening time. What a bummer to have gray, gray days. Today it's finally sunny, but I hear we'll be getting flooding rains tonight. Boo hoo. The Delaware River is already so high. Luckily I'm up on a hill, but the homes down by the river that were damaged last year still don't look completely repaired. The last thing they need is another deluge.

I'm ready for the sun too, I wonder if we start a petition, think that'll help :op I just keep praying for sun, and it worked so far this week, rain managed to hold off every night after work since Tuesday. Sadly it seems a 2"-3" rain storm is coming for this area on Saturday.....so all the sun's hard work is going away for a while.
I had been starting to get down in the dumps about the weather, especially with snow on the 23rd....yuk.
Then this Tueday I awakened my garden to find all the green hiding underneath. Wednesday I attacked the veggie garden with the tiller, Thursday started my new flower gardens. The week got even more inspiring Friday afternoon when a friend surprised me with an instant spring, 23 pots of Tulips, 18 pots of Hyacinths, 6 pots of Daffs. My wife & I were inspired enough to plant them all before the sun dropped, that included me digging out a few gardens by hand.
So even though the weather wasn't totally ready to bring spring, I just planted it around my house :op

Nick - I think we are going to have to do a "Sun Dance" real soon. Praying doesn't seem to be enough! LOL

I noticed my poor plants end up being forced to hurry up and shoot up a little further during the few somewhat warmer sunny days before lasping back into a stupor during the chilly overcast and downright deluging rainy days. Poor things. The past 3 springs it has been this way now. Sigh...
