New Hosta Bed Photos

Well, I didn't realize what a big project this is -- the reason I did it is because I have extra hosta and also it was always so hard to mow in that small area in the southeast corner. Also, difficult to trim around the big oak tree, and every time I mowed I had to move the bench back next to the fence. I'm the Cardboard Queen at Wal-Mart and I'm still not finished covering that grass! The area not garden is going to be deeply mulched with cypress mulch.

First photo is as it was early spring, I had just started with the cardboard around the tree.

Second expanded garden around oak tree (little fences are to train Kate to stay out, (hopefully); third is my Katy; Fourth and fifth are work in progress -- showing all those patio stones in place and my new birdbath

Good work. I hadn't thought about Wal-Mart for cardboard for the lasagna beds. I may have to resort to that. That will look so good when the hostas are all in. Looks like your have good deep shade for them.

Wow! I think it's going to look nice to include the bench and the tree into one big bed like that. Good job!

That looks much more interesting than the before photo. I don't believe that dog would ever do any thing wrong. She looks so innocent. Who do you ask or what part of the store do you go to at Wal-Mart for the cardboard? More pictures please. Do you have much sun in your yard I see another tree in the background?

Sooo glad you like it! I have numerous large oaks all over the yard. Lots of dogwood as well as my folks just loved dogwoods.
Katy IS innocent, Helen. I'm a real laid-back person and she's the perfect dog for me. As far as I know, in 3 years her hackles have never been up and I've never heard her growl. She's a love and all my friends and their dogs/cats love her.
I can't wait to get that hosta bed done! I even have dormant hosta in the refrigerator crispers. ! Yes, I will send photos. It's wonderful to have some feedback from fellow gardeners! Thanks!
