You could wait until the plants get a bit bigger and then spread the compost between them. Compost is the best thing you can add to your garden.

I put mushroom compost down first around the plants and then mulch over top.

I love domestic rabbits and have several varieties. If you are willing to house a few, they are excellent little poop producers1 I feed them many of my trimmings and weeds and they return them to me , so to speak. Always be sure not to feed nightshade,etc. If you are unsure , don't feed them it! I compost under the hutches all winter and in spring I have the perfect garden crumble. Low in nitrogen, bunny manurre will not burn plants. Betz
