Although Phalaenopsis is not usually grown this way, to avoid damage, which is what I imagine you are worried about, I would suggest mounting it on a plaque. Get a large flattish piece of bark, anything that has a rough surface so the roots can easily attach to it; personally I avoid conifers as they have a lot of resin. Fix a wire hook to the top to suspend it. Smother the roots with sphagnum moss then wrap it round with a wide strip of ordinary polythene bag plastic and tie it on with some string. After about a year when the roots are firmly attached you can remove the plastic. A prettier although more difficult to handle alternative is to use raffia instead. Water by soaking the whole works in a bowl for an hour or so up to twice a week. Good luck.

Large pot with very free draining medium. Make sure you trim any dead roots off before repotting. I would not suggest mounting it unless you can keep your humidity high and water at least every day.
