Beautiful orchid. The only other photo i have seen of a similar orchid is on the WSOS page. Photo taken by my Daughter in Law at the Montreal Botanical Gardens.
Never seen one around here but alas the species specialist society is a long travel away. They have all sorts of interesting stuff.
Jay's site says the Genera is rare.

Nice save Calvin because if it is a hard to find as epigeneium stella-silvae it would be a horrible loss, just for kicks I went looking all over the world via the net and now I know all about the plant and that no one even in the philippines sales it. I don`t think I will ever own a rare species, I would feel to much pressure to keep it thriving. My hats off to ya for growing such a pretty.

Eyesofthewolf - I know exactly what you mean about growing rare species. I didn't even know this was somewhat rare! Hopefully I can succeed, divide it/self it and generate some progeny so it is no longer as rare. I have a similar goal with my aerangis species that are somewhat hard to find....in my opinion, it's one of the best ways of species conservation out there; with more growers, there is a higher chance cultural conditions can be refined, and a higher chance of keeping the plant alive in cultivation even if it becomes extinct in the wild.

Calvin, I wish you luck and success in your endeavors; really I do, we are losing so many different species of all types plant and animal that if an individual can make a positive impact I applaud you. Deanna

Jane - I got it from Andy's...it was very healthy, and suffered in my care for a few months before recovering - still on the road to recovery, but slowly getting there. Definitely consider it - it's subtle but very elegant, in my opinion. Andy's still has it listed, along with some other fun species too!
