Any veggies I can plant this late?

I have a small area in my garden available and was wondering if there were any veggies anyone can recommend that I can plant this late in the season?

Here is a link from MU that I find very useful.

Toward the end of it are the planting dates for different zones in Missouri. Be sure to look at the map to find which planting zone you are in.

Lettuce?? I assumed it was too hot for lettuce right now, but I'm delighted I can plant some. It's my favorite veggie.

tee I planted some last year and had some salads out of it, but it rained last year. It depends on the weather. Others would know more about what to do for success.
