Yes, I'm still thrashing around out there. Still trying to get a ripe tomato. Must move hosta to a shadier bed soon and finally finish the Green Room (the shady garden area under dogwoods where my gchildren like to play and have picnics.) Because of the heat I decided not to put a solar frog light and solar twinkle lights in the redbud tree in that place until next summer. I feel we're going to have lots of snow and cold this winter. That's based on nothing but the weather has been so freaky this year. Always have a lot of yard work to do in October, but as for now just keeping up the watering and trying to clean things up. And get a tomato.

It's much nicer to work outside now and I've been doing some weeding and collected a few seeds. Our mowing is caught up but I can't get my stupid weed wacker started and dh has been busy. We should've gotten one with a push button start.
My flower beds are getting dry again and I don't want to have to water so I've been putting it off. I was hoping I could roll up the hoses and put them away for the rest of the year. : (
Hope you're wrong about winter Sunny. We got a new snow blower so we're ready. DH will be disappointed if he doesn't get to try it out.

I talked to Neosho Tree Service and got an estimate on removing my huge walnut tree that is too close to the house. Too many houses in Joplin were smashed by trees for me to feel sorry about removing it. It will be different in my yard when it is gone. I have to move everything that is under it and in the way - a million pots, stakes, rocks in a circle around it etc. Also I need to clear other stuff because big trucks take so much room. I found that out when I got a load of top soil a while back. The big dump truck could barely fit through the gate and required a big circle to turn around. I have lost interest in gardening but this is a good time to move things; it is not as though I will ruin the looks of anything. My hostas are scorched daylilies too but new shoots are coming up from the bottom.

I guess I must be an eternal optimist, either that or plumb crazy. I'm still out there working on the garden, as soon as it got cool enough I was out there cleaning up beds, deadheading, cleaning up irises and daylilies, moving hostas around, and yes, planting things. We planted a Butterfly Japanese maple, a Tiger Eye sumac, some Blue Bomb veronicas, and moved some other things. Plus put down a truckload of composted mulch and one of gravel, and now we need some more mulch and some wood chips for a path.

Almost time to order a few hostas for fall, I'm working on a list! And a few new bulbs to plant, time to order fall bulbs!

I love Tiger Eye sumac. I have two plants. One is small from the Master Gardeners' sale in Springfield and one is from Ozark Nursery. I watered the new one regularly through the summer, but the older one held up very well with just occasional water. Both still look attractive and nothing tried to eat them even though I was over run by grasshoppers and blister beetles.

I am almost at a standstill with the garden. I am keeping the open space tilled in the Kitchen Garden. I am just watering some new things. It is still too hot here to start clean-up.

Glad to hear about the Tiger Eye Sumac. I need to do more shrubs and small trees and cut way back on the perennials.

I may order a few bulbs.

Helen glad you are removing the tree. We did some of that remembering tornadoes and ice storms.

This is the time of year my gardening enthusiasm wanes considerably!

Mine too, Glenda, yet I've still got things that need doing. I swear this time of year I'll buy nothing next year. Every year. :D
