Missouri bound

Hello everyone, I am coming out to missoui aug.11 to look at some horse property around the springfield area. I have never been to missouri but feel this is a place I would like to live. Have done research for several years and like what I have found. My family and I want to start a horse boarding and riding facility. I would love to hear any thing anyone has to say about the area that actually lives there. Also is there need for a facility like that there and is there plenty of work there. Im just real curious and would like to hear from some local people any thing you would like to tell me would be greatly apprciated. Thanks Teresa

Welcome Teresa - I have to say, I don't know what the need is for boarding and riding facilities. Sounds like an enjoyable adventure though. We looked for trail riding one year for my daughter's birthday party and didn't have much luck. They DO have trail riding around the Branson area, but I think not around Springfield. Not sure how much boarding is available. Maybe if demand isn't so good, you can create some with a little creative advertising that would appeal to our city dwellers who don't have land available for horses. Some folks would buy anything, including a horse, for their kid if they thought it was the "in thing". Abercrombie would be a catchy name for a horse wouldn't it? lol Liability is probably a major headache with something like that. That might be one of the biggest drawbacks. It's a big step isn't it!

Yes it is a big step, but we want it so desperatly and have studies on this for years. We have horse now and have worked with people that own stables here. So we are not going into this blindly. We are more concerned about the need for something like that there. Here in VA.there is great demand.We live about 45 min. out of Washington DC so yea big demand just cant afford the property. 20 acers here goes from anywhere from 400,000 up. and I mean way
up. So 50 acres wheeew you couldnt even touch. We do want to stay as close to a major city as possible hoping business will filter from the city. Does this seem feisable to you. or am I way off.

Cliff Hartman Farms at Marshfield 1-417-859-2200 breeds,maybe boards,trains and gives lessons.Lots of people around here have horses-land is still available at REASONABLE PRICES.My daughter is at Ozark and much of the area has 3-5 acres with a house and outbuildings.She is doing some boarding and gives lessons and seems to be doing well with it.She only has a very small barn so is limited with the weather.I hope you are coming to the celebration? at Ava-foxtrotters-in early Sept. I think.We are so dry here right now,it may be a poor time to even look at land.It is really sad,it is so dry.Posy Pet
