We got 'em!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we finally got our guineas last night. We brought them home in a couple of pet taxis, a total of 10. Seven of them are about 2 months old and the other 3 are a little older. So far so good.

We are cheap, we traded my beagle pup for them, and drew a little difference, plus we used things around the house to fix their pen. The old dog house we built last year and has hardly been used is now the coop, we added a roost to it and cut a hole in the roof so we can get to them easier. An old table made of 2x4's with a very heavy top is now the pen. We added woven wire and chicken wire around it to be sure to keep the little ones in. I used a dog bowl and an extra fountain type water-er for their feeding area. The coop is about 3 1/2' high, 6' long and almost 4' wide. The run is about 7' long, 3 1/2' wide and 2 high.

I thought we might have lost one today, we took the first one out of the pet taxi, and it got loose! The rott, doberman, and setter mix were all laying around watching, and all 3 jumped up. They all stayed back while we got it caught, so hopefully we won't have any trouble with them. These are the 3 that I figure will give me the most trouble with them.

In a couple of weeks we are hoping to be able to let them loose to feed and we are still wanting to get some more at the poultry swap. I heard that there will be one on Sept 10 at Civil War Arena in Carthage. We will try to get a few more there if we can.

Goodbye to the ticks, I hope!

Well gotta go check on my new babies to see how they are doing.

Tammy
