Gratz on seeds.No clue on those seeds Im have a tuff time on getting any passion seeds to spout.But how are your pipevines doing you gave me some seeds last year and they were the only pipevines Iv ever gottin to grow from seed .thx thx for fresh seeds hehe

I have A. fimbriata coming out my ears! They didn't germinate until I put them on the seed mat them BOOM, pipevines galore. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all of them. I'd better get some hungry caterpillars next summer. lol I'm glad they did well for you too. I had some P. violetta and P. amethystina seeds that germinated almost immediately but some of my others haven't done a thing. I just planted some vitifolia seeds a few days ago, nothing yet. I'd read that some of the larger passiflora seeds should be nicked and was wondering if I should have done that with these.

Karyn, since your vitifolia seed are hybrids, there's no guarantee they'll even be viable. I've heard that nicking or sanding the seed coat is pointless, since the outer covering isn't impervious to moisture as as Pride of Barbados, bluebonnet and other types. Since yours are fresh, I'd just clean off the arils and plant them as you would any other passi seed. I've had very strong results with fresh passi seeds that way.

After all that waiting for a ripe fruit I hope they are at least viable. lol The amethystina hybrids are growing fast. This is what they look like after a few weeks.

WOW! Those are indeed pretty vigorous seedlings you have there. Fingers crossed that mine do as well!

The seeds I sent you are the same batch that these are from so I think they should do well. I still have them on a seed mat and just started giving them very diluted feedings. Not even a real fertilizer just B1, liquid kelp and some sort of carbohydrate stuff. I'll have to look and see exactly what it is. I'll start with an all purpose fertilizer soon, I just don't want to risk burning their roots.

The P. vitifolia seeds have started to germinate, woohoo!!!!! Just one so far but it's only been a week.

Karyn, two of the amethystina crosses have sprouted, along with one of the unknowns you sent me. The vitifolias haven't done anything yet. :-)
