Holiday wekend...never fails!

Have you ever noticed most bad stuff happens on a holiday weekend. This passed holiday weekend(Sat.),my two youngest boston terriers decide a copperhead was a great playtoy. My vet was out of town. I was panicing and couldn't rememebr any vets I had used in the past in town 20 miles away but finally found one that said bring them asap.

Glad to report pups are near normal...well as normal as any goofball that thinks copperheads are neat playtoys.

Vets really should keep valium on hand for furbabies' mommas that are having a nervous breakdown in their offices....LOL

You are right about Emergency situations and Holiday weekends...had a freezer go bonkers here. Did you ever try to find an Appliance store with an Emergency #? LOL

I think every pet we have had to put down managed to reach that critical stage on the week end. I hate to ask our Vet to do that for us even though we have used her for over 20 years.

I found out it's hard to find a vet that will see a rabbit on Sunday. And cars are most likely to break down after hours on a weekend when you're out of town.
Peggy - Hope your puppies are doing ok now. That must've been scary. I never thought about a snake being able to bite twice and still have venom on the second bite but I guess they can. Hope you lectured those puppies good. Do you think they learned their lesson or will they go after every snake they see now?

So sorry about your babies. Sounds like something that would happen here. Husband blew up the stove. Guess the parts are in and he can go get them today. Oh well keeps you young coping with things. Have to move fast to stay ahead.

I hadn't ever noticed that before until the labor day weekend UNholiday!
Thursday my daughter lost her baby (Was going to be my 1st grandchild!) Friday my computer crashed and I lost all of my digital photos I had taken the past couple of years due to my stupidity of not backing them up on CDs. I had hundreds upon hundreds of plants I no longer have information on, All of my before the gardens pictures are gone! I just want to cry! Check out my HELP ME! post for the rest of the story.

Nancy - So sorry to hear about your daughter's baby and your photos. ((Big hug)) Hope your daughter is doing ok. I never had to go through that and can't imagine.
Gardenweb has a Computer Help forum. If there's any chance of recovering the photos, maybe they could help. We back ours up occasionally but need to again. I've been thinking I should put a copy in our safety deposit box since it wouldn't take up much room and lots of pictures of the kids on there.

Had a Doberman get himself bitten in the face by a copperhead and from then on it was the only snake he hated...just would not leave them alone. He was too smart to get bitten again, but you had to do something about it or he would never give up barking at it. Kind of hard to get any sleep with a Dobbie so mad he was frothing at the mouth. And they often come in pairs. I tried to get him upset with other snakes, but he would just look at me with a doggie puzzled look as if to say, "so what, he hasn't done anything to me." I don't think the Toy Poodles are brave enough to get that close. They only chase things as long as it will run away.

    Hello Christie,
My daughter is doing much better. The three days following her surgery left her in pain and very sore. I do appreciate the hug. I had to take my computer Megabyte for service as I could not fix the problem myself. Unfortunately one of the things I tried to do so that I could reinstall my software was to zero out my harddrive with my disk utility program, that process erased everything .... DER from now on I'll be keeping one of those stacks of CDs next to my work area since they are so cheap and back up every time I download photos from my digital. Hey things are looking up ... RAIN and more RAIN! Now I just got to figure out how to get rid of an armadillo!
