The article says:

become easily waterlogged."

That confuses me. I thought they usually grew by water.

I thought the same thing. I guess the secret is fast draining. River banks are usually pretty gravelly.

If yours are fruiting, I would say they are in a good location.

Years ago before the land was cleared, we had one in a narrow valley. When it rained there was a gully that ran like a stream. The ground was rocky so well drained but moist because it got run off from the hills.
