Lovely! I was wondering, how long does it take flavicarpa from seed to flower? Not very long, I hope!

I planted a flavicarpa from seed last spring and got 1 flower late last fall before I put it in the garage for the winter, so they must be able to go from seed to flower at least, in warmer zones within the year. They seem to be strong aggressive growers.

Great plant! The only edulis of mine that's gotten that big was a Flavicarpa I planted in the ground. Then we had an particularly harsh winter spell instead of the unusually mild weather we'd had the past two years, and it froze to the ground. :-( Ah well, live and learn.

Mine took 3 Years to Flower, But 1. it it's inside in England and 2. it Wild Collected from the Philpines.... Those 2 factors might have a bareing on why it took so Long to Flower

Wow, there's a lot more reflex to the petals than I'd expect from other photos I've seen. Alas, I've yet to have any edulis varietal flower for me. Maybe this year...

Do you have the purple edulis or the yellow? My yellow has more of a reddish stem than your photos. I have a purple cutting that I am rooting and it has a very green stem. The leaves look similar though. I wonder if the lighting/ or sunlight could cause the difference? Mine (yellow)is outside on the porch. I guess you will know for sure if you get fruit because the purple is supposedly self fertile. Have you had any fruit without pollination in the house? The flowers of yours and mine (yellow)look similar but I'm just going on memory because I don't think I took a photo of my one lone flower lol.

Any flavicarpa should have yellow fruit.

Haven't been able to set any fruit Yet...

All the blooms are gorgeous. What's the difference between the edulis and the edulis flavicarpa? I have a mature edulis that I just got from someone in PR. It lost all it's leaves but is just now putting out lots of new healthy growth. The stems are reddish but not nearly as dark as the ones in SJN's pic. I also have some edulis flavicarpa seedlings but they are teeny tiny and I really have no idea what they'll look like.

Yay sultry jasmine night! Thank you for posting that pic! I rescued a cutting from what I thought was a flavicarpa I'd planted in the ground (it got quite big before frost got it, but never flowered) but I wasn't entirely sure since it came with a mix of cuttings and wasn't labeled. My cutting, which is now maybe 10" long and putting out some good new growth, looks very much like what you posted. Very reddish stem. I've got several regular edulis, but was hoping this was a flav. Now I know!
