yellow needles on a Vanderwolf Pyramid Limber Pine

We planted a Vanderwolf pine over the summer and now it has some yellowing of interior needles. Is this to be expected in the fall, or is the tree in distress? I thought that the cause could have been dry conditions, but this type of tree is supposed to tolerate dryness. Thanks for helping me with my question.---Nancy Kimball Lewisburg, PA

It is typical for pines to loose needles.
Ocassional deep watering will also help when there is not rain.
About 2-3 inches of mulch and ocassinal watering into the fall and the pine should be fine through the winter into the spring.
WHat you are seeing is probably just the regular sheding of some of the needles.
