We all started out with such high hopes this year!

I know the feeling. I did get to sample two new melons but I just gave up watering them after a long time.

There is always next year...

That is so funny. Do you have really big feet? This was a record setting year for bad weather. I hope it is better next year.

LOL, I was prepared to be amazed. And I am. Just not in the way I expected!

I've got 6 tomato plants and have gotten a total of 3 small tomatoes and that was weeks ago.

well Christie, thats better than mine. The watermelon and cantelope I planted bloomed but never set fruit.
On the other hand, I had a volunteer cantelope in the tomato patch (compost was added there) and had a nice little sweet melon.

I missed my watermelons this year. I actually didn't plant any. I think the five plants I had were all volunteers from a Moon and Stars that I tossed last year - but still, I was expecting a few watermelons so it was disappointing.

My dad had a volunteer canteloupe this summer that did pretty good for a volunteer. There were only a couple melons but they were very large. I think it was 'Athena' canteloupes that I purchased at the grocery store a couple times that were huge and had a very good flavor. I want to try to grow those sometime. I'm always glad when they put the variety name on there. I bought some Pluots this week at Walmart that were wonderful and big for a pluot, but it only says "pluot" on the sticker. Not sure I could grow those here anyway.
