Wow, it was a great plant swap. I came home with several new plants that I can't wait to get into the garden. Here is my list of what I received in trades. I guess I should say, most of them Ross picked out, I gave him the tickets.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank all of you for the great day. My mom and I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the company, food, and information that you all so graciously shared. Your generosity and kindness was more appreciated than I can even put into words. My hubby didn't shoot me when he saw all of the beautiful little critters for my garden...he smiled and said 'Wow, you must have met a great bunch of people!' He couldn't have been any more right! I, too, felt as though I'd been a part of the group for much longer than a few weeks. You are all great people and I truly look forward to learning from your experiences in the future. OK! Hey everybody,
This was my first swap, and I brought home a literal jungle! Thank you all so very much! All the way home (all 3 hours) Joel and I commented on what a great group of people y'all were and how everyone was included, even me w/ my icky plants! It was so worth the trip for us, not for the plants, but to meet all of you. Joel had a great time too, and he doesn't know a blade of grass from a petunia, and doesn't care to either.

I can't even list everything I got, I have to go out and look through my new jungle and make a list of what I have. I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. My garden is going to be gorgeous...thank you all so much, this is such a blessing to me!

I'll be working on crafts this winter for the spring swap. Any suggestions or requests just let me know what you'd like and I'll see what I can do...I'd love to make something special for each and every one of you!

Thanks again. Oh, and I LOVE the flower pot I won for coming the longest distance! Whoever brought that had GREAT taste! LOL

Thanks for inviting us!! My daughter and I had fun and we are still so excited about going and meeting everyone!! Plus, I came home with lots of great stuff, even though I only had some small beautyberry bush seedlings and one Heideroslein rose to offer. Next year we hope to have more, bigger and better ones!!

Like Heather, I'm trying to figure out what to bring in the spring, but I am nowhere near as talented as she is. I'll either be following Cathy's suggestion and start winter-sowing, propagate something or - ??

Heatherjoy - from you I got a frosty pink brug, a gorgeous hand painted plaque, a flowerpot with pkgs of seeds and a whole box of hostas + goodies! I don't even want to hear you think that you brought "icky plants" again!!! I happen to like everything I got, especially your brug, my second one!

OK Heather your plants weren't yuccy I got a beautiful mandeville, a pink brug,forget me not, a huge milk carton of chameleon and some hostas not to mention the beautiful bird house collector sign as a doorprize from you I personally don't have a very large shade area for hostas and have chameleon thats why I didn' take them till the end. I also paint but never seem to have the time to do it.Now Suzi your beauty berrys are great I ended up with 3 because your daughter was making sure they all went to good homes my 2 neighbors love them (I could only use one)I also felt bad because some of the plants people brought were larger than the original plants I took my trades from in my garden mine looked so puny but I know if I want a plant all I need is a small start to get it growing I just don't have the space for huge specimens I like having many varieties. But I think everyone was happy I'm going to try and bring odd perennials in spring I love different annuals I can bring seedlings to share(I hope)No one was dissapointed It was lots of fun. Patty

I, too ended up with some of Suzi's beauty berries and I told my DH about them...he can't wait to see how they turn out! As for Heather's hostas...my sis was so excited, she made me drive her to my house from a party just so she could SEE them!!! My mom literally talked about the swap all day at a family party...trying to encourage my aunt to join up!! You all really are wonderful...can't wait 'til spring!! ~k

Well nuts, I knew it would be a fantstic swap. I really wish I could have made it but unfortunately I had to work evenings this weekend and I didn't think I could make it back in time...although I was really tempted to try! Hopefully when you all plan one for next spring I will be able to make it. Glad it turned out so well for all of you!

Ok, ok, ok...I won't call my plants icky or yucky anymore. But they were nothing compared to what y'all brought (and you know it!!!). :)

I told my SIL about the swap and she's so disappointed she missed it. She'll be there next time. At first, I know she thought I was crazy for going 3 hours to get plants from people I didn't know! LOL I'm going to take her some things today, some daylilies and iris and I don't know what else...I have so much!

I really hope I do well w/ all of my brug cuttings that I got so I can share them w/ all of you at the next swap. If they do well I'll let you know and get some cuttings rooted for all who want them.

By the way...I did some research on the beauty berry bush that Suzi gave us. OMgoodness, you guys! It's just gorgeous!!! If we had known what it was at the time we'd have been grabbing them like they were $100 bills! Most places list them for zones a little warmer than ours, but don't worry, it'll grow here. It will die back to the ground in winter, but that's ok because it flowers and fruits on new growth. I can't wait to see mine fruit! An added bonus is the birds do love it...so do the deer and bear. Quite a nice plant she gave us. You can look up American Beautyberry, French Mulberry or Callicarpa Americana. I'll include a link to a place that sells it for a little more info. I'm in love w/ this new bush! I've decided to overwinter mine in a coldframe this year, just to be safe.

Gillian we missed you at the swap also, I sure hope you can make it in the spring, my daylily called Gillan just sent up another fan, so I'll be dividing that for you.

I want to thank everyone for making this a great plant swap. All the food was wonderful, and the door prises that Linda and Heather made are beautiful and I know they spent hours painting them all. And the plants that were there, a great bunch of plants to choose from, and the new people that were invited to the swap that are going to join the garden web, they also had a great time. Rayann and Cynda, they brough beautiful plants and had a great time with us. Remember next year to invite a friend, or gardener that you know to the swap.

it WAS so much fun! a definite must-do for next year. it actually turned out to be a perfect date considering we had monday off to get our plants in the ground.

i'm a little worried...i got about half my plants into the ground (I had to START by moving around some of my EXISTING plants first, of course) but, then I got called up to go to New Orleans to work for who-knows-how-long! half my plants were left in pots on my porch. my mom has promised to dig them into the veggie garden which i had already started to clean out for the fall...i hope everything makes it and that i get back before the fall prime perennial planting season is over....otherwise, they'll have to spend their winter in the veggie garden!

thanks all for the great plants! i had the PERFECT spots for so many of them!

Oh, wow, that was fun!!! Everyone was so nice, the food was super, and the plant selection was unbelievable. I came home with so many great plants. Can't wait to see the Cupid's Dart next year.

Cathy, I looked up the Robert Forster grass as soon as I got home (Duh, it was in the book I had with me!) Delighted!!! Yesterday I saw some at a nursery I stopped at for 13.95 a pot and their pots weren't as nice as the 6 I brought home.

I haven't gotten everything planted yet - have to wait for some annuals to finish out the season before digging them in.
