First Time Growing

This is my first time to try growing the passion flowers (they are so beautiful) Husband built me an harbor for them to grow on but what wire is the best for them to cling to? We have some thet is about a half inch square but I thought it would be to small for them to reach and cling to. I only have 4 plants - also does anyone have any suggestions for the first time grower in centeral texas?
