Welcome to the Ozarks forum. I'll admit - I had to get out my atlas and look up Potosi to see where it is. I'm in southwest Missouri near Springfield. You've never seen snow!? Hope you get to see a little bit this winter then, but maybe not TOO much. My old house cat has been eating like a pig the last two weeks. She seems to be fattening up for the winter. I believe she has instinct that tells her our furnace is getting old and is going to quit soon. My instinct tells me the same thing. hehe
What kind of plants did you dig up? Maybe we can help you figure out which ones will make it through the winter here.

hm not sure about the prison thing but yes i hope to see snow. i know what u mean judge our dog sure is getin alot fatter he must know that winter is coming too. well i have al sorts of plants some im not sure of the name. i have alot of cactus and succulents. besides those i have ice plant,caladiums,lilies,hybiscus,pencil plant,roses,mother of thousand babies,kolanches,elephant ears,bounganvila, poinsettes,gardeniatree,geranium,coleus,ivies,palms,yuccas,
aloe vera,canna,iris,athea bushes,mother-in-law tongue,ferns
century plants,shrimp plant,mexican petunias,bananna tree,begonias,dusty miller, i have alot more that i have no idea what they are called . probably at least 25 or 30 more. but thats the just of them. im sure most arent for this climate but im gonna try to keep them alive here.

Depends on the type. I have a tropical hybiscus and bring it in for the winter, it does fine and even will bloom occassionally. There are cold hardy types.

kolanches
I bring these in also.

Definitely will not survive outside, but do fine inside, then back out when it warms up. In fact mine are blooming now.

>geranium,coleus,ivies,palms,yuccas,
aloe vera, mother-in-law tongue,ferns
These will not make it ouside. I have never had luck with coleus or ferns doing well inside, but the others should survive.

I use a humidifier in a room with a good southern exposure to winter my plants. Lack of humidity is usually what whacks them.

I keep plants in my basement under shop lights. I have a 48 inch metal shelving unit with 4 shelves from Lowes. I use $7 shop lights and cheap fluorescent bulbs. It is a lot of trouble and I only do it for the mental health benefit - I HATE winter. I enjoy my sun coleus and try to get different ones. They look pretty bad by spring; I take cuttings and start several new plants of each kind. By the time hot weather hits, they look great.
