Morning glory grows very well in everypart of AR. Here in the Ozarks,north,I have some that have gone wild along one of my fences.
I don't know abt Angel Trumpets but i bet someone does.
The very northern part of AR is zone 6 ,the valley or central AR is z7 and parts of far southern AR is z8.

Angels trumpet aka datura grows here in zone 8 as an annual.MG's are a weedy invasive for me. Re-seeds every stinkin' where.

Thanks for the replies!! We're moving to Greers Ferry, approx. 75 miles north of Little Rock. We lived there for 6 years about 18 years ago but I've forgotten what grows there. I love vines and up here my morning glories are annual and don't really get good bloom until late august. I've taken a ton of seeds off them and intend to pack them along with me. I also have Silver Lace vine that I'm going to try to bring. I understand that it will be invasive in AR but I'm going to try to contain it somehow. I'd love to bring all of my good soil too but I guess that's not possible. :) Shucks!

Donna, talk abt me being a dum-dum. I have all kinds of trouble remembering the correct species names of plants. The only name i knew for Angel Trumpets was Datura.Glad someone else knew.

You'll have some new choices on plants to grow moving further south. Sounds like fun. What are you growing your vines on? I would LOVE to put up some kind of arbor or pergola in my backyard someday.
I planted a Dutchman's Pipe this spring but it has lost its leaves already and I suspect that it's dead. I missed it when I was doing my watering a couple times because I forgot about it. I'm kicking myself.

A wild pale blue morning glory is such a weed for us, taking over our asparagus bed every year that when I planted a large dark purple one from seed, my husband thought I was nuts. But so far the only place it has come up is where I put it three years ago. I love it. Datura is a reseeding annual here in zone6/7. REmember that it is poisonous, so warn the kids and grandkids not to put it in their mouth--my granddaughters have seen their grandmother put so many weeds and wildflowers in her mouth that I have to warn them--only the things grandma hands you!

My husband built me three large trellis's. I have Silver Lace, Dutchman's Pipe, Honeysuckle on one big one and Virginia Creeper on another. The japanese beetles stripped my Virginia Creeper the past two years even after spraying and setting traps. Hope they stay up here and don't make it to AR.
Hope to make it to AR in the next three weeks to search for and buy a home. I'd like to be out of Illinois before the snow starts.

Those stupid Japanese Beetles seem to like a lot of things. I see more every year here. I don't know how common they are in Arkansas though. I noticed this year that they were eating the wild grape vines. They grew back but sure looked like lace for awhile.

We moved north to locate here and wouldn't be anywhere else! Arkansas is a wonderful place to live.

The Angel Trumpets (brugmansia) return from the roots here south of Ft. Smith most winters. Where you are locating south of here..should not be a problem to winter the plants in the ground.

Donna, I have a jasmine vine, several clematis', morning glories have grown for me and I have autumn clematis. I bought an obelisk type water sprinkler several years ago and the top oscillates while watering. I planted my jasmine on it. I bought a bench with a trellis over it this year but we haven't gotten around to putting it up yet.

Have you found a home yet?

Christie, check big lots in the spring or they may have some closeouts that didn't sell you never know. The obelisk was only $25 and it's good and sturdy, not aluminum and the arch with bench is also strong. I think it was either $39 or $49 dollars at Big Lots too. They have a lot of neat gardening items like, statues, coconut hair? lol hanging plant baskets, lanterns, etc. I'm sure you've probably been there and bought some things and I know they all have different items.
