I recently put a P. Quadrangularis in the ground. This is the first of this type I've tried.

Unlike the other types I have this one seems to be a water hog.

Several other new types were put in at the same time and they do not wilt in the hot afternoon sun anywhere near this squared stem plant. They are already moving along as the other long term plants I have.

The Quadrangularis is establishing as well but if the ground is not very moist under the mulch to the touch it wilts severely, however the tendrils are wrapping around the fence and there is new growth. Maybe once the roots are better settled it won't require daily water?

Yesterday we got about 3/4" of rain, yet today I had to water the thing again deeply before the wilt caused damage.

It is in full late AM sun to mid afternoon. Temps around 90 F, and humidity.

Is it always a water hog?
