5 and a half inches and water in my basement. Water ran through my yard for a while and washed walnuts all over instead of just under the tree. I think I wished too hard for rain last summer.

Haven't bought a new rain gauge yet, but a bucket sitting on the front porch is half full :)

No matter, I'm enjoying the cool rain and cooler air.

It revitalized me enough to drag everything out of the kitchen and give the floor a really good moping.

I don't want to put the chairs and junk back in now (lol)...can't I just throw it away and have a nice roomy airy kitchen? (would work till breakfast)

I am late responding but we got 3.5 inches of rain over a 24 hour period. It came down nice and steady so not much runoff.

Helen, I hope the water in the basement didn't cause any severe problems.

I like to play outside in the water. When I get this much rain a ditch by my yard runs like a creek. It plugs up with branches and I go out and unplug the dams. It is usually fun. This time I had to hobble around on a purple toe because I slipped in my basement. I am OK and the water is all cleared out with bleach sprayed so it doesn't smell like mildew.

Sorry to hear your basement flooded Helen. I always worry about that but didn't have any flooding this time. I've learned to use plastic tubs for storage down there instead of cardboard boxes.
