Bandsaws & Coir..

Ever been tempted to use a saw to cut up the coir bricks for faster rehydration? Don't use a saw meant for wood. I used my bandsaw, who's blade was a little dull anyway.. Now it's really dull after cutting 2 bricks. There's something hard (sand?) in those bricks the blade didn't like.

Next time I'll try my metal cutting bandsaw... See how that does.

:) could have told you that... and it's not sand, it's the coir itself. it's about as dulling on blades as cardboard- and if you ever want to waste money, cut laminated cardboard on a bandsaw.

I take the other approach- I stab it repeatedly with an ice pick, screwdriver, what ever I have, let it soak, then come back 15 minutes later, and repeat the stabbing :)
