Hi. Being in a cold winter zone the majority of my passifloras need protection. Even the cold hady varieties sometimes don't survive the winter in ground. I only prune the vines to move them in and out of winter storage (greenhouse or garage). I think pruning during the growing season will sacrifice blooms.

I keep the cold hardy passifloras that are in containers dormant over the winter. They go in the garage which stays just above freezing. I rarely water them during that time. The tender ones go in the greenhouse. Lutea, caerulea, Incense and incarnata are the cold hardy vines I can think of offhand. I've read that vitifolia is cold hardy but I've never had it survive a winter in my zone (7a). I don't think there's any that are hardy enough to remain in ground during your winter.

Those planters are fine but the vines will need to be wrapped around them as they'll get quite long. Can the planters be placed somewhere where the vines can continue growing onto something? I have some that can cover a good portion of the fence over the course of the summer.

Thx so much Karyn. That's what I was worried about - sacrificing blooms. So, I'll position the planters so that the vines can extend onto a fence behind them. Now I just have to find the plants!

I like Grassy Knoll and Zone 9 Tropicals though Grassy Knoll has the biggest selection. Eric mentioned that Brushwood Nursery also has nice plants.
