I have never even heard of the varieties of broccoli. I haven't ordered from them before, but they have been around a long time.

I usually grow something like Premium Crop or Packman Hybrid and buy the more common seeds at Hummert International on Flordia in town.

I've been wanting to check to see if Hummert has their seeds in yet. I should go by there and see what they have before I order anything.
I found a list of recommended varieties of broccoli for Missouri on one the the Extension Center pages, and Arcadia was the only one they listed that Stokes also had.

It may be a little early for them to have seeds out. I usually don't start anything before February and that is for things needing lots of time to grow and that can be put out while it is still very cool.

I just called and they do have seeds out....I asked particularly about broccoli and it is in....didn't ask about varieties.

I looked at their flower seed offering. I have so many plants and seeds that I don't think I need to order more. Glenda you are wise to wait until February. I have plants in windows saved from last season. In other years I have started seeds under lights too early and got really sick of them by spring. I think February is about right. I dabbled in the winter sowing thing before but I forget how it is done. Is it too early for that? Tomorrow looks like another good working day.

helen, that is just for things that grow slowly like snaps, broccoli and onion seeds. For the warm season things like tomatoes I wait until April. I got tired of those 18 inch tall plants. I do start peppers in March. Seems like they grow much slower. I never plant out warm season plants until after May 10-20th.
