any fall swaps?

Hi all. New here, but had read about the Spring Swap. Do y'all ever get together for Fall? And ever in the Tulsa area? OKC is a little far for me to drive.

Just curious. I am mostly at Cottage Gardens and Moon Gardens, but lurk here regularly.

Thanks,

HW

That would be a great time to get seeds produced during the summer!

I got some daturas that I got as seedlings from my mom, and if everything goes well and grow as they do at my moms, then I will get getting lots and lots of seeds! They would go well for the moon garden as these bloom in the evenings and have very large, white, and fragrant flowers. Daturas are toxic though, so they may not be great if you have kids or pets that like to nibble on plants (although it seems that most cats don't really nibble on toxic plants, they somehow must be able to taste the poisons).

I would be interested in a fall swap! Let's see what others have to say.

claudosu-are you in Tulsa? If anyone's interested, we could even do it at my house. It's not huge, but there's room.

I'd be interested in a fall swap. I've missed the last few swaps in OKC, but had a blast when I did go. A Tulsa area swap would be fun!

I would be interested in a fall swap in the Tulsa or stillwater area.. it's too danged hot to get out and dig right now. By then I will have lots of houseplants that will need cutting back before they go back indoors.

I still have columbine seedlings that need thinning. I gave some away last week but don't know if they survived the ordeal.

I've even been scared to plant the sedums that I traded for, and they can survive just about anything.

Claudosu - do you have the datura wrightii? I am growing stramonium, and the double yellow, purple, and blackberry currant swirl. If they bloom (not yet) and set seed, would be happy to share with you, if you would like some.

I live in Muskogee and I am new here however I'll have seeds for Climbing Cardinal, sunflowers( the tall variety) , moon plant(so I'm told) and wisteria, ocra and I,m not sure if you can divide cannas and iris in the fall but I have a few of them to. I absolutely love to swap plants and seeds.

I'm not exactly sure what type of Datura I've got, my mom doesn't either. Someone just gave her some seeds and called them "surprise plant," it took a while for us to figure out what family it was.

I guess it looks like what is sometimes referred to as "moonflower," though there are lots of plants with that name that are not even related at all. It does seed readily and it has been seeding true to the parents (always white). It'll more than likely reseed as it has been reseeding frequently at my parents' house. Like I said before, it blooms in the evening and has a strong fragrance (to me) that's not overbearing (again IMO). I would love some seeds of yours if you get extras :-), thanks.

Here's a picture of one that looks a lot like it, though I may not be able to detect the nuances that might distinguish a variety from another.

Okay, I messed up the link. But I got it this time. Here's a picture of the datura wrightii (AKA inoxia), and it does look a lot like it.

I've got D. Discolor with the purple throat. On Dave's garden it says that it's the same as Raspberry Swirl. Is this true? http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/684/
Whatever it is, I've got seeds! LOL!

Interesting!! my (so called) Moon flower blooms looks just like the datura in the pic you posted but the foliage doesnt my foliage is very green and the leaves are larger and rounded and im not sure how tall your datura is but my moon plant can get about 4 foot tall. I wonder if mine is a datura also. Not that it matters I love the plant so much Im gonna put it all around my chain link fence. They smell so sweet too.

    dedee,

If you have a plant called Moon Plant it is probably datura. Moon Vine is usually Ipomoea (night blooming morning glory), and Moon Flower is usually one or the other of these, although there are lots more night-blooming plants.

Sounds like you have D. Innoxia -

Would love to do a fall swap - never done this before and new to the area. Please keep us posted when and where. Live just inside Sand Springs city limits and think something around Tulsa would be neat.

OK, it isn't fall yet, but I do have some iris to give away. I have a big clump that will need dividing.
I don't know the variety, but it's pretty.
