I've always wanted to, but my daughter bought a place where the gentleman raised horseradish for sale--and it was scattered everywhere.
I've thought of planting it down by the woods, but a container would be better. Think you'll try it? If so, let me know how it works.

think i will try it this yr in 5 gal buckets. don't know what i will do with it all.

Get you a pile of cow manure and some sand add some lime and a cup of 12 12 12 and plant a root of horseradish from the grosery store on top with carots and beets around to hold the ground. They realy dont spread very much but dont put in a flower bed.

I planted some about 2 years ago and expected it to go rampant, but it hasn't? It's in pretty rough ground, though.

I can't imagine what you will do with horse radish! I hate the stuff.......what are your plans?

I'll have to research it, seems like you grind and mix with vinegar, but might be more to it.
My SIL and I both love it on beef roast.

My ex dh. liked it ground and mixed w/mayo and squeezed lemon juice. Oh how it smelled.
I'm w/you gldno1 can't even think of eating it or to even get pay the smell.
Is there some way to eat it that I am missing?

The only time I have used horseradish is, when making Tartar Sauce, which we all like on fish. I usually just purchase a small jar at the grocery, which is ground or shredded and packed in vinegar.
I was forced to start making my own Tartar Sauce, when the commercial producers stopped using Tartaric acid in their product and you really have to search to fimd any with horseradish in it.

With sausage or any kind of red meat or fish it's great! I love the stuff.

i use our smoker a lot in the winter. i get a 2 lb top sirloin cut and smoke it at 275 for 2hrs and it is great. the horseradish is perfect on this cut. some folks use it in mashed potatoes. i need to try that.
