Hey smokey! I Started a few cross plants, they grew to adolescent size and all died. I never figured out what killed them... They were in a hydroponic setup, so i probably fudged something along the way and poisoned them :(
I havent posted here in a while because ive been terribly busy at work...
Ive been so busy in fact that the last few months of pepper pods last year just rotted and fell off the plants (no time to pick them!) Just last weekend I got a chance to dig up the old pepper plant carcasses to get the bed ready for planting again.
I do remember all of the help I got last year from GW members so im making some time to send seeds out again this year to give back to the community :)

Zanderspice had shared photos of Lemon Drop growing in hanging baskets. I think Serrano would do well grown like that, and going to try it this year. Last year I kept trying to tie them up, kind of like herding cats.

That's funny Rick, because I remember Zander's baskets as well and am doing hangers out front this year(with his seeds too).

Are you going to try some bonnets again this year?
I must have gotten some chocolate scotch bonnet seeds that were on steroids.
I've got too many 1 inch sprouts with 2-3 sets of leaves already.

I got some large chocolate habs too that are going nuts.

I bet you get a few volunteers from the pods that fell on the ground that got left on their own last season.
I've got a lemon drop thats overwintered from the seed you sent me.Think I'll put it in a #5 pot this season.

Im in the automotive industry (hyundai plant in alabama) and as you can imagine we are very hard at work in this economy.

As for what Im growing this year... the usual plus whatever good stuff I can get my hands on from the awesome GardenWeb community :)

I have been really, really enjoying my crop from last year.
I am like an addict, I just need to put more and more of my frozen and dehydrated peppers to food... My wife and I made red beans and rice the other day and I added a 'few' bhuts to it... Lets just say that Im not allowed in the kitchen anymore.
It was pretty good though, made my lips burn!

smokemaster... I did eat a few of those hot banana peppers... I mean "Rare-Chinese-Licorice-peppers-from-an-18th-century-village-that-has-recently-been-lost-forever-to-biblical-flooding" peppers. But the rest just kind of rotted on the plant because I didnt really have any reason to harvest them.

As for the volunteers... right now its still too cold outside, but I am going to have a BAD time keeping up with them this spring because there will be A LOT! I had so little time to harvest last year there were HUNDREDS of peppers that fell, probably thousands of seeds will 'volunteer'... lol. Oh well, ill deal with it.

This is my first year starting peppers indoors, last year I grew bells and banannas outside that I bought from lowes.
I done fairly well however the summer went by quickly and the peppers were good but not very hot, so this time Im growing the Hot Lemon variety, wish me luck.

If anyone has ideas on what else would be good for a beginning backyard market farmer, please let me hear your suggestions! I bought a chocolate bell pepper this week from Home Depot, just to try out, and the dang weather went cold on me again. I love chili rellenos, so am planning on a couple of poblano plants, and the yellow habaneros just because I love their looks.

Apparently other area Lowes, Home Depots.. even Rite Aids have way cooler stuff than where I live.

For that matter, Pepper_Rancher, I think you should start a new thread for this year's offer. Wading through all of last year's manutia is a pain in the arse lol!

Hey pepperrancher, I just got my seeds i sent to you sent back to me. I guess the SASE folded up inside the envelope didn't allow it to pass through the mail machines. I had to add 20 cents extra to the envelope.

My lemon drop seeds arrived today, thank you again! I can't wait to get these guys started. I'm going to try a hanging basket like zander did. Do you think it would be safe to plant them near my birdbath, or would the birds chow down on the plants?

Also, hope those Tasti-Lee tomato seeds work for you, pepper_rancher!

Just got mine as well. Thank you very much for sharing these! I'm hoping to do the same when I manage to get mine (lemon drop, obviously, but also orange hab, cayenne, hungarian wax and jalapeno) to maturity.

I hope you all enjoy your lemon drop harvests this year! I started some seeds from the same stock I was sending out to you guys, they had very good germination rates in about 7 days in jiffy peat pellets under a florescent light for heat...

Also, am I right that the species on these is C. baccatum?

I don't know if you still have Naga Jolokia seeds, I love to have some of this seeds along with your lemon drop seeds. I have seeds from the pepper plants that my family love. It is super super hot. Thai's pepper is nothing compare to this pepper or at least that what my family thought. I will send this to you in sase. I always save these seeds for next year planting. I normally start seeds indoor around March. I have a picture of this pepper plant in the pot, but don't know how to upload it. I am not as good with the computer.
