Yes. Mulch them come winter and it will probably regrow next year from the roots.

They bloom on the new growth, and mine are not self fertile.

I have a big one who I hand polinated with itself- no luck untill I picked up another in a 1 gallon pot- When I polinated one w/ the other I had fruit all over.

I used them as pollen donors this summer for a few crosses- X 'amethyst', X 'lady margaret' and X violacea all produced seeds, X 'saphire' has produced fruit but it's not ripe yet.. And from what I've read it's usually empty anyway.
