A while back I posted about getting two p. foetida var. gossypifolia plants. I planted one in the ground, and another in a pot. The grounded one took off and has been flowering steadily for the past three months. The potted one, well, growth has been much slower, with no blooms... until now.

Yesterday as I was getting into my car to go to work, I saw a little pink flower--I'd not expected the bud to open for another couple of days. Scrambling, I removed one of the anthers and used it to pollinate the one open flower on the in-ground plant. Then I removed the other anthers and collected their pollen on a piece of paper, letting it dry out. This morning I applied it to two new blossoms on the in-ground plant with a small brush. Ideally, I'll have three fruit (and seed) set and ripen before we start getting frosty weather. My fingers, as they say, are crossed.
