At least one 'Sunburst' hybrid has been made, P. 'Sunfire' which is P. 'Sunburst' x P. cuprea (just registered, by Anke Hackert). They may be more hybrids, probably Eric or Shawn or someone else would know. Since 'Sunburst' was the female parent you should be able to get fruit with seeds, presumably with other sources of pollen. Have you tried hand pollination? I was told that P. umbilicata forms empty fruits without hand pollination and seeds with hand pollination.

There are some other sunburst hybrids. From the 2003 register of hybrids:

'Edita' (P. biflora xP. 'Sunburst') Leopold Sevcik's cultivar 1996. (two different registers have the parentage opposite... hmm)

'Moonburst' (P. trifasciata xP. 'Sunburst') Patrick Worley's and Rick McCain's
cultivar. Vine: small; leaves: bilobed, variegated like P. trifasciata; flowers: small, yellow.

There may be more too--newer. I'll have to defer to Eric, Crystal, and others on the possibilities of further hybridizing it (and getting viable seed), but I don't see why not. If it has crossed with cuprea, biflora, and trifasciata, I don't see why it wouldn't work with others! What decalobas are you thinking of trying?

Right now the only others that are blooming are the biflora and adularia so I've used them. Rubra and citrina have buds so I'll try them once they open. I forgot about trifasciata and will have to see if it has any buds. None of my other decalobas have any buds at the moment but Sunburst is loaded and should be blooming the rest of the summer. I'll try anything. I'm not looking to make new crosses to register. I just want to get fruit with viable seed to plant and see what develops.

Biflora and trifasciata seems like good candidates for getting seed! Good luck!
