Hey! Glad everything is doing great! The palms look really nice and healthy and the sago definitely looks like it has enough green to make a nice and healthy flush. That basjoo is pretty big! Definitely seems old enough to go in the ground now. I planted my basjoos in the ground last spring, but they ended up growing very weak during the summer and they just weren't healthy plants. Im not sure if they are going to grow back or not, but I'll replace them with more tropical bananas if they dont.

I wouldnt plant anything outside yet, its forecasted to get down to 27F here tomorrow night! NOAA says 30F, but either way, its still probably going to be a pretty hard freeze. I took most of my tropical plants outside, but now I'm bringing almost all of them back in because of the cold. I probably won't plant anything in the ground until mid april the earliest just in case. Nice variety of seeds! I was thinking of planting some dwarf types of sunflowers this year since I do really like the blooms, but dont have anywhere to put giant 10 foot sunflowers!
Thanks for updating! Hopefully the summer weather will be here permenantly soon!

The forecast is alittle misleading weather.com says 27 for monday night but ny1 says 37. Ill decide tommorow if im going to bring everything in. I grew zinnia last year and large sunflowers. I dug up the basjoo last year because I never had one survive in the ground no matter how much mulch i put.

You pull that NI Pine in and out every year. That has to weigh a ton. Hope you have a lot of windows in your house!

    Everyting looks really great!

I solved my planting dilemma this year by planting the Bananas etc,
in there pots as the week + of 80s tempted me to plant them 0:

Actually the low on Staten Island was 31 this morning and warmed up to 56 in the afternoon. I was out at 430 am and it sure was cold out there. My Bird of Paradise had some damage, with leaves going a copper color overnight, and I protected it, but all in all, I think it will survive.

I recorded 30F in my yard, but the area where my weather station is in my yard is in a very cold microclimate because of the way the deck cools down. My Birds of Paradise looks like it was a little damaged, the bromelaids I left outside look perfect still. It probably was a good thing you brought everything in because just a few degrees colder would have really made a difference.
Supposed to get cold again on Thursday. I give up, I'm definitely keeping the plants inside for at least another week! Starting some EE's indoors and I'm waiting for the cannas to sprout up themselves outside when the weather warms up.
