I've got some white hab seeds to spare if smoke doesn't.

Chocolate habs are my favorite. I'm growing those this year a long with chocolate scotch bonnets and chocolate fatalii... and much more. Chocolate pods seem to be quite hot in comparison to their "normally" colored counterparts. At least that's been my experience.

How long do choc habs take to germinate? It has been 21 days, and although my nagas, red sevinia's and many other's have sprouted my choc habs have not yet. They are still in the hot house for now.

They say 30 days, but all mine were more like 20-25. I'd expect to see them any day now.

My beloved snake died, now I have two heating pads I'm not using. Gunna start a little hot house of my own in the next couple of days. I have lots of seeds to germinate, I might have to do it in two waves...

I'd think what I do would work for you too.
I sprout seeds in late Dec. and put them outside as soon as I can.Then around late july/Aug. I start more that go out Sept./Oct.
I only lost a couple plants to the rain and cold last week.
I even had to water my pots today.
Baccatums,Pubescens,most Annuums and chinense will grow and fruit in colder weather but they take forever.
Cold isn't near as nasty to plants as our 100 degree+ summer heat that lasts for weeks on end.
I almost got my 500 varieties in last season.
But all but a dozen or so have overwintered so far.

Heck of a head start for this comming spring.

Do I hear 700 varieties this season-need to do some more buying and trading.Don't have 700 varieties yet.LOL
Go for 2 plantings.If winter plants don't make pods in the winter they will early spring/summer.
Your weather isn't much different than mine is.

Usually most seeds sprout fast for me-10-14 days give or take.With bottom heat...
They (C. Chinense) seem to like sprouting better in damp soil rather than the paper towel in a zip lock method.

I fill a peat pot with potting soil and put a clear plastic cup upside down over the area where the seed is.Put the whole thing on my grow lights for heat.

Then I put the peat pot in a 3 gal. or larger pot once roots go through the pot.
I punch holes in the pea pot before I plant it in it's permanent home.
The peat pots at the $99. store are really cheep(thin) looking and break down lots quicker than the name brand ones.
I like that-faster root growth into the big pot.
You get 24 for a buck and tax.
They seem to work for me all right so far.
The Yellow Manzanos have started to open their buds today.Whooo Hooo!
Tree Hab is growing pods and buds too.
Baccatums are getting covered with pods...

I'm, real excited about this years crop! Everything I started in peat pucks are growing great. The egg carton/soil idea was a complete failer. Live and learn I guess!!!!
