I think it going to be hard rooting most Passion vines in water.

It might be better if you dip the end of your cutting in rooting hormone (powder of liquid) and plant it in some solid medium, like sand or loam.

Caerulea seems to be the only one I can root in water.

Incense doesn't root in water (though it doesn't die in water either...strange) for me.

Just a follow-up here - I have rooted a few cuttings of P. ligularis, alata, and caerulea (I think)rapid rooter plugs from the local hydroponic store. I put about 1/4 a teaspoon of ST and probably 1/2 of a teaspoon of fertilizer in a gallon and poured that on the rooters, then took cuttings and have just re-watered when the rooters start looking a little dry.

I have good results rooting a number of passie varieties in water as long as I use bottom heat.

I root all of mine in water. Prefoliata is a slow poke...The Zamarana put on a bud in water.. I just potted it up and waiting to see if the bud will hold.. Ligularis is easy to start from seed also..

my best results have come from cheap kitty liter ( the clay kind) and leaving the pot in the dish with water or liquid fertilizer in the bottom at all times and florescent light. I read about using the kittly litter on a website for bamboo and I decided to experiment with other things. Now I don't want to use anything else. Ibartoo
