Passiflora Incense

Thisis my second year with this awsome vine I have kept it inside all last winter in a very bright but not sunny window it did ok lost a few leaves but all in all it did well. I was wondering if this particular passiflora would do well outside in my Rhode Island winters I of course would pile mulch and/or leaves on it I have an arbour that would look awsome with this vine climbing around and through it plus it has given me three additional sprouts this year!!! so two on each side would look wondrful looking forward to your reply thanks Shade

Yes, Incense should do just fine outdoors in 6b with mulch.

Kiwinut, what do you think the limit for 'incense' hardiness would be. I always bring 'Incense' in for the winter, but I would love to have it outside as well. (if you suspect it would be hardy enough I'll just root one and try it next spring, so it has a chance to establish).

Incense is reported to be hardy to zone 6, but I really don't know for sure. Mine over-wintered outside last year, but it was relatively mild, only getting down to 8-10 degrees F a few times. It was not mulched much at all, so I suspect it could take a lot more with a heavy mulch. I would definitely leave one outside if I were you, with a backup indoors just in case.

Thank you....now I have just got to figure out a place to put it. I think I'll plant one of my newly rooted cuttings next spring. this way I have time to figure out where to put it.
