Well I call them runners, but root sprouts works even better,lol. The way that I have increased the chances of them living is by trying to dig as much of the root as I can with it. I just wedge a small spoon right under it and it usually comes out with some rooting. Then I plant it into a container with 50/50 perlite and soil mix. If I happen to not get enough root with the sprout, then I just put it in some water until it gets more root growth and then I transplant it. Most of the time this works well. I just dug up 3 "root sprouts" the other day. 2 seemed to transplant nicely, but the third one is kind of floppy still. I'm not sure that this info will help ya, but that's what I do. I figure that if they don't make it, there will always be more "root sprouts" popping up again.

Hehehe! I called them "root sprouts" because the runners are what's underground - I only try to dig them up when they show some leaves on the surface, hence my highly scientific term, "root sprouts"!
Thanks so much for the advice - P. incarnata grows freely here, but propagating it isn't that easy!

Yeah your right about the runners being underground. :)
As far as incarnata rooting, it is quite hard one. Even in ideal lab conditions people have trouble rooting it. I think that digging up its' off spring is the way to go. Good luck!
