I say go for it. They get tall, and probably need alot of water in pots. I plan on growing one this summer.

Almost anything can be grown in a pot, as long as the pot is big enough. Depending on the growth speed and tendencies of the particular plant, at some point it may outgrow the pot, at which point you either get rid of it, plant it in the ground, or donate it to someone who can.

I have a small TP, about 5 lvs, it will probably grow more slowly and not as large in a pot. Live and learn I say.

I agree travelers get enourmous so start with a big pot !

Actually, maybe you shouldn't start with a big pot, all the extra moisture from excess soil can lead to rot. It may be wiser to slowly pot up into bigger pots every other year or so.

If you live in South Florida, you have probably been to Fairchild Gardens? Have you seen the TP's there" They are over 20 ft tall with a spread of 15 ft easily.

I have a friend in Plantation (Ft Lauderdale) who planted 3 in his yard 2 years ago, they are already over 10 feet tall. In fact, I gave him one of the ones he planted, it was only 2 ft tall when I gave it to him. You know how most So FL yards are (small) he says he is going to have to remove one of the 3 as its taking too much space already

Yes, you can grow it in a pot, but eventually, it will get so large and heavy you cannot move it. If that's what you want, good! If not, you might consider going on and putting it in the ground

I have mine, a starter plant from Urban Tropicals, in a large terra cotta pot. When it breaks the pot, we will put it in the ground here in Lake Charles. LA. We'll then just cover it when it gets below freezing on occasion during the winter.
