Any opinions, especially from those who have planted a number of Itoh peonies, would be appreciated!

Can you post a pic of the root or is there not one? From what I recall, Itohs can grow from fragments, even if eyes are not present.

The last 2 posts show the root itself.

At the end of the season, each itoh develops buds (the white things) near and around the crown. They make no difference to next year's bloom. They were obviously knocked off during shipping for this plant. The root looks very nice.

I must be completely oblivious--I've never seen anything like that on my Itohs! It looks like parts of bulbs or something! Learned more about Itohs today, thanks Graycrna4u!
