My Cancun Hab. seeds are 10yrs. or so old easily and sprouted recently in 5 days or so.
Depends on your seed saving conditions and seed genes I think.

My current seedlings are from 2005 seed.

My best to date is some I lost in a damp basement at bottom of a box, Bolivian Rainbow, 7 years. 100% germination and last year I could not get one Lemon Drop to germinate(new seeds).

The seeds from the super hot peppers dont last at all. Thus the reason I am trying to grow some 2 year old ones now, to try and get some fresh peppers ad get the seeds. For some reason the super hot ones dont germinate unless they are super fresh.
The Nagas,Lemon Drops,Bhuts, ady of the burning hot peppers like those.

I don't agree FloridaBear. I'm having no issues with 5+ year old super hot seeds. :) 10 year viability is not an issue with others so far.

I had green pepper seeds in the freezer, dated 1996 that got 100 percent germ.

So according to what ppl are saying here I might be alright with my 2004 seeds I received from u.s. seed bank. I might of not used the best method to save them though. I have them in their original manila envelopes in a pint glass jar but just sitting on a shelf. Was that a bad mistake, the jar on the shelf. What you think, ppl. I best get to sprouting some I suppose.

Yes,unless they are Chinese Licorice seeds.
After a very short time they turn into Anahiam type peppers from Wally World or a dollar store.

I packed up a package of dried anaheim peppers from the grocery store when I moved and they didn't get unpacked for 7 years. I tried sprouting some seeds just to see what would happen and germination was better than 50%.
